TOP TEN REASONS TO APPLY FOR
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE FOR
WORKERS WITH DISABILITIES (MAWD)
(A
health insurance program for
workers with disabilities)
-
It can be the difference
between you being able
to take a paying job,
and you being forced to
remain on social
security, even though
you want to work!
-
Applying is free and
easy. The Center for
Disability Law & Policy
can help. Call
1-888-745-2357 and ask
for Jamie or Margaret.
-
Applications can be made
on-line at
www.compass.state.pa.us
-
Individuals
with disabilities ages
16 through 65 who are
working may be eligible
if the job does not
provide insurance.
-
You do not need to work
full time to be
eligible. Part-time
work is ok!
-
You are still eligible
if you have up to
$10,000 in “countable
resources” and your home
and car do not count!
-
MAWD is Cheap! You pay
a premium based on your
income level.
-
MAWD may provide you
with doctor visits,
durable medical
equipment, prescription
drugs, emergency health
care, dental services,
drug and alcohol
treatment, hospital
stays, rehabilitation
services, hospice
services, and medical
transportation.
-
You
may be eligible for
health insurance through
MAWD, even if you are
not eligible for other
Medicaid programs.
-
With MAWD you can have
both your health AND a
job!
